A MASTERPLAN has been drawn up to transform a dilapidated village park.
Formed from part of the grounds of Cleadon House, Coulthard Park is often plagued by drainage problems.
Now the Friends of Coulthard Park have drawn up a series of plans and hope to secure up to £70,000 National Lottery funding. Three public consultations are to be held to give residents a say.
Coun Margaret Meling, park friend and Labour representative for the Cleadon and East Boldon ward, said: “This is a very ambitious scheme.
“We’d like to see it both as a park and a recreation ground, where people can sit and read and children can play safely.”
Consultations to which all residents are invited will be held on Tuesday, July 1, from 1pm to 3pm, at the pavilion in the park; on Saturday, July 5, from 10am to noon, in the Village Centre’s community rooms, and on Friday, July 11, from 4pm to 6pm, again in the pavilion.
