No reward for working

ALMOST half of Britons working population have not heard the words thank you from their boss in more than a year.

A national study of 2,000 people found more than 50 per cent feel they do not receive proper credit for their efforts, and 25 per cent say they have never had a thank you from their boss.

The study carried out by Avery Rewards found that when feeling unappreciated, employees’ first reaction was to start caring less about their work.

Just a third of people said they find their job rewarding and one in four treat themselves at least once a week to cheer themselves up.

According to a list of 10 things workers most appreciate, complimenting work ranked first.

Also on the list were a Christmas bonus, being made a cup of tea once in a while and colleagues remembering your birthday.
