MORE than 20 jobs have been created after a new retail store opened.
Sunderland Mayor, Coun Stuart Porterhouse cut the ribbon at the new B&M shop in Hylton Riverside Retail Park yesterday, which replaced a former store on the same site.
The new premises is three times larger and the move created 20 jobs.
Councillor Porthouse was joined by representatives from the Sunderland branch of Diabetes UK. The charity was nominated by B&M staff and the local branch will receive £250 worth of B&M vouchers.
Store manager Erica Barnes said: “We’re really proud to be opening a larger store in Sunderland, creating an extra 20 jobs and continuing to play our part in the local community.”
