A SICK dog found tied to a fence is on a the road to recovery after finding a loving new foster family.
The female Lurcher, who has been named Biddy, was seriously underweight and suffering with a skin condition when she was discovered by Durham County Council Neighbourhood Wardens in South Hetton in October.
They took her to the Stray Aid Kennels, in Coxhoe, where she received the treatment she so desperately needed.
Once she was healthy enough, she was handed over to the charity Greyhound Rescue West of England, who found her a foster home in Wales.
She will be rehomed permanently once she has made a full recovery and the signs are she is well on the way to that.
Her weight is said improving and her coat is growing back.
Dave Riseley, education and enforcement manager at Durham County Council, said: “We’re delighted that Biddy is making a good recovery after what was a terrible ordeal.
“We received so many messages from members of the public who were shocked and upset at what had happened to her – she has clearly touched a lot of people’s hearts.
“We’d also like to thank the person who contacted us with information on who owned Biddy. We have passed this information on to the RSPCA for further investigation.”
