A DAREDEVIL mum has taken a leap of faith to help her daughter realise her dream of becoming a world champion.

Angela Nicholson bungee jumped from 330ft to raise money so her daughter Hannah, 12, can go to the World Shotokan Karate Union’s Championships.

The 40-year-old, from East Boldon, raised more than £500 by doing the jump on board HMS Calliope, berthed in Gateshead, on Saturday.

She said: “I would do anything to help Hannah, but it was the worst thing I have ever done.

“I’m pleased I did it because I raised the money, but I will never do it again.”

Angela raised enough money to pay for her daughter’s flight to Kosovo for the competition in April.

Any extra cash will go into a kitty to help fund the other youngsters’ costs.

Hanah is one of 17 youngsters from the Dokan Karate Club in Boldon who will represent England at the contest.

The club claimed its place last year by winning 11 national and international championships, 106 first-place awards and 342 medals and trophies.
