MP in fight to save pubs

GRAHAME Morris has been charged with fighting for the future of British boozers.

The Easington MP has been elected a vice-chairman of the prominent All-Party Parliamentary Save the Pub Group in Westminster.

Grahame Morris said: “With on average 16 pubs closing each week, I recognise the need to apply pressure to local and central government to maintain the British pub as a vital community and social hub.

“This requires finding solutions to the many problems facing pubs, especially in towns and villages, where pubs are closing at an alarming rate.”

The group has previously looked at a issues such as increased beer duty, competition from supermarkets and large pub companies selling beer to their tenants at above-market prices.
