BIKERS showed wheel heart as they rode their way to give service veterans a cash boost.
Pub boss Gordon Littlewood is over the moon after regulars at The Mallard in Seaham raised more than £3,000 to help former members of the Armed forces.
The pub’s annual fund-raising day for Help for Heroes saw motorbikes, pedal cyclists and walkers travel to Catterick Garrison’s Phoenix Centre rehabilitation clinic and back to raise money for Help for Heroes.
The sponsored trek was followed by a concert at the pub, featuring 10 local bands.
“It was absolutely fantastic,” said Gordon. “It was like the whole community coming together.
“We had 82 bikers, there were four pedal cyclists and seven walkers.
“I just want to say a big thank you to everybody who supported us, to the volunteers who gave up their time to help out before, during and after, to the people who bought raffle tickets and to the local businesses who donated. They have all come together to help out a worthy cause.”
