THE best song ever led to the best gift ever when Sarah Turnbull’s waters broke at the Wearside One Direction gig.

Though the heavily pregnant 28-year-old felt a little discomfort during last week’s Stadium of Light concert, she didn’t realise her waters had broken until the fireworks finale.

Six hours later she gave birth to son Thomas Setterfield, who weighed in at just over 7lbs.

His parents toyed with the idea of naming him after Harry Styles, but they went with Thomas after dad Pete’s grandad.

Sarah, from Glebe, Washington, said: “I’d bought the tickets last May for my daughter Emma’s seventh birthday, before I was pregnant.

“The day of the gig was eight days before my due date, but I felt fine and I’d been to see the midwife that day who said there were no signs the baby was on his way.”

Sarah thought the baby was pressing on her bladder during the gig, causing her to feel like she constantly needed to use the bathroom, but it was actually her waters slowly breaking.

“I had no contractions,” explained the mum-of-two. “So I really didn’t think it was labour. And because everyone was enjoying the gig so much I didn’t want to say anything.”

By 1am, Sarah was in labour at Sunderland Royal Hospital.

She said: “It was all a bit of a blur after that as it all happened quite quickly and the contractions soon came.

“We did talk about the name Harry for a little while which would’ve been quite a fitting name given how my labour started, and Harry is my daughter’s favourite One Directioner.

“But my partner much preferred Thomas, as this was his grandad’s name so a bit more personal.”

She added: “I’m really pleased I actually got to see One Direction with Emma. I really didn’t want to miss out on her first ever concert. I felt a little uncomfortable, but I’m glad Thomas waited a few hours before he decided to arrive, even though he couldn’t have cut it much closer.

“Everyone keeps telling me he obviously couldn’t stand the music and just wanted out of there. But I like to think he was enjoying the music and just wanted to come and party with his mummy, auntie Kayleigh and nana (who attended the gig with Sarah) a bit sooner than we expected.”
