Man charged over crash which killed three women

POLICE have charged a man with causing death by dangerous driving after a car smash which killed three women.

Rebecca Leeroyd, 18, and East Durham College student Megan Robinson, 19, who were travelling in one car, and Anne Peachy, 60, who was driving another, were all killed in the crash on Front Street in Shotton Colliery on June 23 last year.

A man aged 23 from Wingate, who was driving a third car, has now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

He has been bailed and is due to appear before magistrates in Peterlee on April 23.
