Man accused of Sunderland shop raids

A MAN accused of raiding a Sunderland shop will have his case heard at crown court.

Stephen Potts was at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court yesterday facing a charge of attempted robbery.

The 20-year-old is said to have been behind a raid at Shah Stores in Fordland Place in the Ford Estate on Sunday.

He has also been charged with attempted robbery, following trouble the following day at Nisa in Sevenoaks Drive, Grindon.

Potts, of no fixed abode, entered no pleas to the charges and the case was sent to Newcastle Crown Court, where he will appear on August 27.

He was remanded in custody until then.
