Job hunt help for ‘troubled’ Sunderland families

MORE than 800 “troubled” Sunderland families are to get help to get jobs.

Jobcentre Plus specialists will provide intensive support for families and fast-track the progress made to find them work.

Practical support will include CV writing, job interview skills, and highlight training opportunities and vacancies across Wearside.

Local Government Secretary Eric Pickles said: “By including a real push towards employment for troubled families, we will help give a sense of purpose and aspiration to people who have far too long been allowed to fail by the state.”

Of the 805 Sunderland families identified for inclusion in the Government’s national three-year programme, 82 are already being worked with on issues such as truancy and antisocial behaviour.

However, none have yet been “turned round” in the first nine-months of the scheme, new figures show.
