JAZZ hands are at the ready as a talented troupe of dancers are set to work their way through some of theatre’s greatest musicals.
Sunderland-based Kathleen Knox School of Dance is gearing up to present Dancing Through Life, which features songs and dances from Singin’ in the Rain, Wicked and Gypsy, as well as songs from recent musical films such as Great Gatsby, Book of Mormon and Frozen.
About 100 dancers, aged from three to young adults, will perform at the show in Bede Tower, Ashbrooke.
Dance styles in the show will range from classical ballet to musical theatre and contemporary modern.
Kathleen Knox, principal, said: “The pupils have worked very hard again this year.
“We’ve had great exam results with pupils being invited to audition for scholarships due to their exam success; pupils have performed lead roles in regional productions, we’ve won a host of awards in a regional dance festival and a pupil was a finalist in a national dance competition.”
Dancing Through Life is on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7pm. Tickets are £8 and can be bought by calling 564 0006.
