Inquest opened into landlady’s death

AN inquest has been opened into the death of a woman whose body was found in a car park.

Kim Collins was found in her car by a dog walker early on Saturday near East Boldon Library in Boker Lane.

An ambulance was sent to the car park after the grim discovery, at 5am, but the 42-year-old was already dead.

Police prepared a report on Ms Collins’s death for South Tyneside coroner Terence Carney, who has opened and adjourned an inquest.

Ms Collins was at the centre of a long-running court case in which she was alleged to have faked a robbery at The Big Club, in Station Road, Boldon Colliery, where she was landlady. She later admitted wasting police time regarding the alleged heist. She has since been due in court several times to formally ask to change her plea but on each occasion her solicitor said she was not well enough to attend.
