BOLDON Cricket Club is celebrating after receiving thousands of pounds worth of funding.

The organisation has landed a £3,000 grant from Lloyds bank Community Fund.

The club, based in Sunderland Road, East Boldon, plans to use the money to develop a disused bowling green into a grassed practice area and wicket with roll-on net facility for junior cricketers and other community groups school children.

Secretary of the club, Peter Crane, said members had worked hard to secure people’s backing.

He said: “We are absolutely delighted,

“Everyone has been trying to spread the word about the club.

“It is money we are going to spend on developing facilities for juniors.”
