How cricket is helping boost foster carers

A GROUP has teamed up with a cricket academy in a bid to boost the number of foster carers.

Foster Carers is working with Durham County Cricket Academy to support the development of young cricketers in the region as well as provide information on fostering.

The group operates across the North East providing foster placements for children and young people and is sponsoring the academy’s trip to Dubai

Members are also visiting venues across the region in a mobile office to help boost fostering.

“Normally, fostering providers have offices which interested parties will be expected to contact and visit to pursue their interest in fostering,” said recruitment co-ordinator Louise Cook.

“We have decided that we need to be more flexible, more visible and more mobile and being proactive in going to the people rather than expecting them to come to us.

“To do this we have invested in a motor home which has been set up as a mobile office.”
