A PANEL of judges have made their first inspection of Durham City’s entry in the Northumbria in Bloom competition.
The judges began their visit at the Botanic Gardens in Hollingside Lane yesterday.
They will return for a second round of judging in the summer, before the results are announced at ceremony in Gosforth, Newcastle, in September.
Durham’s flowers are properly under the microscope this year with the city also entered in the national Britain in Bloom competition.
Northumbria in Bloom is the voluntary regional organisation that administers the Britain in Bloom competition in Northumberland, Durham, Tyne & Wear and Teesside.
More than 180 volunteer groups in the region have entered this year.
