WEARSIDERS are being encouraged to help out needy children by donating their unwanted DVDs.
People working for companies in Sunderland will be able to donate CDs and games through a fund-raising initiative.
They will then be bought at a premium rate by webuydvds.co.uk, which is based in the city.
All the money raised will be donated to Children in Need.
Members of the public will also be given the chance to donate their unwanted electronic goods, with all proceeds going to help one of the charity’s 2,700 projects.
Children in Need has helped raise more than £600million since it was launched in 1980.
The appeal’s fund-raising show each November has been presented by Sir Terry Wogan ever since.
In 2012, Children in Need raised an estimated £26million through its telethon, and this year hopes to beat that figure.
Webuydvds.co.uk was founded in 2008 and operates out of Colima Ave, in Wessington Way.
