A HAIRDRESSER’s plans of running a mobile business are on hold after she was caught drink driving with two people in the boot of her car.
Courtney Whittle has been banned for a year after pleading guilty to drink driving at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court.
Police pulled the 19-year-old over after seeing her drive out of the Mill Inn pub car park at 11pm on March 14 with a car full of people.
Jeanette Smith, prosecuting, told the court police were concerned about her manner of driving and poor lane discipline, as well as the number of passengers in the Renault Clio.
When officers pulled her over, they could smell alcohol on her and she failed to provide a breath sample when asked.
Mrs Smith said: “She claimed to have a panic attack. She was taken to hospital and assessed and told there was nothing wrong.”
Three hours after Whittle was stopped, a blood test showed she had 86 microgrammes in 100ml of blood, the limit being 80 microgrammes.
As well as being banned from driving, Whittle, of Dene Avenue, Houghton, was fined £230 and £85 costs.
Neil Hodgson, defending, told magistrates of Whittle’s plans to become a mobile hairdresser and said she made a “very foolish decision”.
