A THREE-year-old girl was airlifted 30 miles to hospital after she broke her leg on a family day out.
The youngster, from Durham City, was injured at Leaplish Waterside Park, on Kielder Water, in Northumberland.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called in to fly her to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
The accident happened on Saturday morning as the girl was with her family in the park. It’s thought she caught her leg on the edge of the slide.
A spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance said: “We were called in because the distance that she would have had to travel to hospital by road was too great, given the pain she was in.
The flight to Carlisle took just 15 minutes.
