TEENAGERS took the lead to plan a day packed with activities to boost the funds of good causes.
About 250 people took part in the celebrations at Seaham Youth Centre in aid of children’s charity Small Steps and Cancer Research UK.
The 16 and 17-year-olds were set the task of putting together the event as part of Groundwork North East’s National Citizen Service programme, working with other organisations to lay on stalls and displays.
It featured crafts, face and nail painting and games, with police and fire service holding demonstrations during Saturday’s gathering.
PCSO Linzi Graham, said: “I really enjoyed the day. I was very proud of the young people.
“They have done really well They have organised all of this since Monday.”
