HUNDREDS of people are set to pay tribute to a teenager from who died in a work accident.

The third annual football tournament in memory of Jason Burden, pictured, will take place on Saturday.

Jason died at work at Tyne Slipway and Engineering company, at South Docks, Sunderland, when a tunnel thruster from a ship fell off a work bench and crushed him on December 8, 2011.

The 19-year-old was a keen footballer, and since his death, parents Trevor and Maria Burden have organised a football tournament in his memory to raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance, which flew Jason to the RVI Hospital, Newcastle, after his accident.

The match will take place at Filtrona Park, Bede Industrial Estate, South Shields. Kick off is at 3pm.
