WEARSIDERS interested in becoming a foster carer or adopting can find out more at an open event.
The charity wants to hear from anyone – regardless of race, religion, age or sexual orientation – who is interested.
Couples don’t need to be married, but should be in stable relationships and single people are welcome to apply.
The ideal candidates should be committed, have lots of energy and patience.
The open evening will have social workers, foster carers and current adopters on hand to talk to and explain their roles.
It will be held on Tuesday between 6pm and 8pm at the Roker Hotel in Roker Terrace, Sunderland.
Angela Tatum, fostering and adoption manager for Barnardo’s in the North East, said: “We want to encourage people who may never have considered fostering or adopting to think about what they have to offer.
“There is no doubt that it is a major step, it can be hard work and very demanding, but the rewards can be immense.
“We are looking for people who will help children get the best out of life.”
