SANCTUARY is back.

Sunderland Minster will play host to a festival of the region’s best food, drink and music next month.

A first Sanctuary, held in May, proved to be a smash hit and organisers are promising the second will be bigger and better.

Events will be taking place in and around the Minster, with family activities during the day and an adult audience in the evening, on the weekend of Friday, August 22, to Sunday, August 24.

Visitors can enjoy a range of international food stands, along with drink stalls offering everything from coffee to beers from Wearside’s own Maxim Brewery.

Performers will include the Jazz Pistols, George Shovlin Duo, Sir Jac’s Bantamac and The Heavenly Thrillbillies, along with acclaimed North-East quartet Scarlet Street and top tribute act The Dolly Parton Story.

Sanctuary is being organised by Sunderland Rotary’s satellite group and sponsored by Sunderland Business Improvement District and See It Do It Sunderland.

“Sanctuary is a great opportunity for us to showcase the talent that exists in Sunderland and the wider North East with an event that really has something for everyone,” said organiser Gemma Dishman.

“There will be some more great people to add to the line-up in the near future.”

Local businesses can support Sanctuary, with a number of sponsorship opportunities available. For further information, email info@sortedpr.com
