Dog rescued after jumping into sea off Sunderland coast

Jackson the dog had a lucky escape after he was rescued by lifeboat crews in Sunderland.

The Border Collie had been out with his owner enjoying a walk in the sunshine when he jumped off the sea wall, opposite the Marriott Hotel in Seaburn at 3.30pm today.

The Coastguard were called and crew from Sunderland’s Inshore Lifeboat managed to locate and pull Jackson to safety.

The dog appeared unhurt from his trauma.
