A DOG had to be rescued by firefighters after being stuck in rocks at Seaham beach.

A crew from Seaham fire station were called to the beach at 4.15pm today where the German Shepherd was in trouble.

The owner, who was out for a walk with his pet, called emergency services to help when the animal became trapped in the rocks.

A spokesman for the station said: “The dog had fallen down in a hole between some rocks and was struggling to get out. We were able to lift him out.”

The dog was uninjured following its ordeal.
