SUNDERLAND City Council has got behind the Black Cats’ bid for cup glory.
A giant Ha’way the Lads flag has now been put on Wearmouth Bridge ahead of SAFC’s Capital One Cup final against Manchester City on Sunday.
The move comes as efforts to turn the city red and white ahead of the fixture gather pace.
A win would see Sunderland bring the club’s first piece of silverware home since winning the FA Cup in 1973.
Councillor Mel Speding, cabinet secretary at Sunderland City Council, said: “The council is showing its support for Sunderland AFC and its official charity, the Foundation of Light, and the club’s many thousands of supporters.
“They’ve appealed for everyone to show their colours as we look to the Capital One Cup Final, and as a listening and responding council we’re doing that too.
“Ha’way the Lads.”
