Coroner to investigate death of Cherry Knowle patient at Sunderland hostel

THE death of a young woman who was being treated at a mental health facility is being investigated by the coroner.

Paige Bell, 20, was admitted to Sunderland Royal Hospital earlier this month after she had been getting treatment at Cherry Knowle Hospital in Ryhope.

Ms Bell, whose address was Swan Lodge in High Street East, Sunderland, died at the Royal on Thursday, August 14.

Sunderland Coroner’s Office have confirmed that a full investigation is being carried out into her death.

A spokesman for Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, which operates Cherry Knowle,
confirmed that Ms Bell had been taken from the site to Sunderland Royal before her death.

They added that the organisation was assisting the coroner with his investigations.
