A COLLEGE is signing up teenagers for the last few places on a free trip which aims to develop confidence.
East Durham College in Peterlee is looking for 16 to 17-year-olds to take part in the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme.
The residential course will take place between Friday, October 25, and Monday, October 28, in North Tyneside and include a number of outward-bound activities such as canoeing, orienteering and gorge walking.
NCS brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them to develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility.
It encourages personal and social development by working on skills such as leadership, teamwork and communication.
Tina Lavelle, NCS team leader at East Durham College, said: “The project offers people the chance to come along and do some fantastic activities over the three days and add skills to their CV and improve their chances of going to university, college or getting a job.
“Previous groups have always given us great feedback about the fun experience they have had and I’m sure the next group will feel the same.”
