ALE lovers supped up as a city beer festival made a welcome return.

The Ashbrooke Beer Festival took place at Ashbrooke Sports Club, kicking off on Friday night and continuing throughout Saturday and Sunday, with hundreds of people and their families attending across the weekend. Sports manager at the club and event organiser, Gerard Harvey, said: “It’s been an absolutely fantastic weekend.

“Everbody’s really enjoyed themselves and we’ve had a great crowd in too.”

Visitors paid £6 admission into the club and got a commemorative glass which they used to test out a host of real ales and ciders which were on offer.

“We were worried because the weather forecast was a bit patchy, but thankfully it’s still been pretty warm and loads of people have turned out,” added Mr Harvey.
