FIREFIGHTERS this evening rescued a cat which had been stuck on the roof of a Sunderland city centre building.
A crew from Fulwell fire station used a special rescue tender to reach the animal which was trapped 40ft up in the gutter of the building in Tatham Street,
“It had been up there for three or four days and was making quite a racket because it was being attacked by gulls,” said crew manager Bryn Hanson.
“Luckily the gulls had not been able to get to it – it was scared and a little bit emaciated but otherwise fine.
“The lady managing the building has arranged for it to be collected by the RSPCA.”
