WEARSIDE workers have boosted the coffers of the Sunderland Cardiac Support Group.
Staff from Sunderland’s branch of Newcastle Building Society have raised £415 for the charity, which helps people with heart problems.
The building society’s efforts were part of its Cornerstone of the Community campaign, where branches raise funds for good causes in their area.
Money was raised at the Waterloo Place branch through a book sale, a Name the Elf competition and raffles throughout last year.
Branch manager Steven Beall said: “The Cardiac Support Group provides huge reassurance and practical help to people going through a very difficult time with their health, as well as to the families that care for and about them, and their work touches a great many lives across the city.
“We hope that the money we’ve handed over will help the work that the group does around our area.”
