Call goes out to land more teenage air cadets

TEENAGERS interested in becoming air cadets are being urged to get themselves along to an information evening later this month.

Anyone aged between 13 and 17 are being invited to an open evening at 36 Squadron, in Hetton.

Among the activities in which cadets take part are adventure training, the Duke Of Edinburgh scheme and various sports.

Camps are held during Easter and Summer holidays.

Parade nights are held on Mondays and Thursdays between 7pm and 9.30pm, at the ATC building, Office Place, in Hetton, behind Hetton and Eppleton Community Hall.

The open evening is on Thursday, November 22. For more details call squadron leader Rick Fiskell on 526 9851 or 07949445486.

Norma Hibbert, of 36 Squadron, said: “We are trying to get a bit of a boost to see if younger people will come along.”
