Call centre success helps Sunderland jobseekers

THE number of people looking for work in Sunderland dropped last month.

A rise in the number of Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants in January brought an end to a downward trend that had cut the number of recipients by more than 900 since May.

But that month’s jump has proved to be a one-off, with the claimant count in February dropping by 54 to 10,471.

One city call centre playing its part in the fight to keep Wearside working is 2touch.

The Doxford International-based firm has seen its staffing levels hit four figures for the first time.

In the last six months, the company’s headcount has soared from 900 to 1,250.

2Touch managing director Stuart Gray said the firm had been on the brink of breaking through the four-figure mark for some time, and he was pleased the landmark had finally been reached.

“We have developed a very strong reputation over many years in the industry as a flexible and reliable outsource partner.

“As a result, we have been able to secure several contact centre contracts in recent months.

“We are absolutely delighted that we have reached such a significant milestone.

“It was one that we could see on the horizon, and it is fantastic to have finally surpassed it.”

The company’s run of new work had not only allowed it to take on new staff but also created the opportunity for a number of internal promotions.

“As a result of the significant business growth over the last few months, we have been able to welcome a number of new associates into the business, as well as develop our own talent from within,” said Mr Gray.

2Touch works with some of the UK’s leading brands across a wide variety of sectors including retail, financial services and utilities.

Continual investment in people and technology enables the business to deliver complex, multi-channel contact centre and e-commerce fulfilment solutions to clients.

Its adoption of award-winning people development programmes, innovative training courses and regular satisfaction surveys, ensure high quality service on behalf of clients.
