BUS company Go North East hit the right note with the launch of its latest service.

The firm enlisted the help of recording icons The Drifters to launch its Drifter buses between Sunderland and Seaham and mark a £14million investment in 100 new vehicles in its centenary year.

The soul band belted out some seasonal tunes on board one of the new buses, which will run on eight of Go North East’s busiest services.

Managing director Kevin Carr said: “When we heard The Drifters were in town, we thought there couldn’t be a better way to launch our new buses than a bus sing-along with their namesake group.

“We were delighted when The Drifters agreed to do it. To ensure optimum efficiency and the best quality of service for our customers, we have committed significant investment to continually modernise our fleet.

“We know that our customers want modern vehicles and that they also appreciate having buses that are branded by route so that they can be easily identified.”
