Bus bosses go green for new service
A FLEET of eco-friendly buses has been launched across the region.
Go North East has ploughed in £4.5million, supported by the Governments green bus fund, for the hybrid double deck buses for its Angel 21 service.
The vehicles are powered by battery or diesel engine, either running together or independently, and cut exhaust emissions by up to 50 per cent.
The service will run every eight minutes between Newcastle and Chester-le-Street and every 15 minutes to Durham from November 11.
Stephen King, Go North East’s marketing and sales manager, said: “We’ve had great feedback from customers.”
