Bath set alight by blow torch

A BLOW torch set fire to a bath when it was used to dry out a damp patch.

Fire officers from Sunderland Central fire station attended the fire at Shaftsbury Avenue in Ryhope, at about 3.20pm on Tuesday.

A resident at the property had attempted to use a small blow torch to dry out a wet patch on the ceiling.

It fell into the bath which then caught alight and was destroyed.

No one was injured during the fire.
