Advice could help win new fuel payment

HOMES missing out on winter fuel payments are being given help they need to access their cash.

Around 30,000 people across County Durham are eligible for, but miss out on, the Government’s Warm Home Discount scheme according to Tadea.

The company is carrying out free home energy visits to help people in low-income households to find out if they are able to claim £135 a year.

The firm says more than 50,000 people in County Durham are affected by fuel poverty, with its visits being made as part of a project called Managing Money Better.

Tadea advisors also provide energy efficiency advice, can teach people how to effectively set up home heating systems and offer help and support with fuel tariff switching to make sure that residents get the best possible deals.

Over its first six months, the project has helped County Durham residents recoup £30,000.

The free home energy visits are eligible to anyone living in the area.

Some residents in East Durham have already saved hundreds of pounds on their bill following its advice.

Anyone who would like to find out more, or thinks someone they know can benefit from help, can call Tadea on 0800 124 4320, or register online at www.tadea-uk.com/Sustainable-Householders/Managing-Money-Better.

Calls are free from landlines, but calls from mobiles may be charged.
