A taste of farm life from 40s

A FARM from the 1940s is giving a taste of what life was like during the Second World War.

North Eastern farmers played a huge part in helping Britain to win the war, with intensive farming saving the nation from starvation.

Beamish has brought those days to life with the 1940s Farm, which tells the everyday story of the family who live there and the people brought in to supplement the workforce.

Visitors to the farm at half term will not only have the opportunity to see what 1940s farm life was like, they’ll experience it too, making quilts for the Land Girls’ beds, mending clothing, helping put blackout frames on the window or learn to drill with the Home Guard.
