A FITNESS expert has launched a new competition to help Wearside women fight the flab.
Personal trainer Katie Bulmer-Cooke, from Ashbrooke, hopes Little Black Dress Day will help slim waistlines across the city.
The 26-year-old, who runs fitness groups across the UK and Canada, said the event next month will encourage more women to get active, as well as giving one lucky competition winner a full “style overhaul”. The mum-of-one, who recently agreed to team up with fellow Wearsider Kevin McLernon – the winner of ITV 1’s The Biggest Loser competition – for a weight-loss roadshow, said: “This year I’m on a mission to help the women of Sunderland feel great at their Christmas party by offering them the chance to win a complete makeover.
“I’m offering five lucky women the chance to work with me on my Little Black Dress Club programme, with a style overhaul for the person who under goes the greatest body transformation.”
Entrants will be judged, based on before and after pictures, by Nicola Wood, owner of Kitui Hair Design; Nicola Fisher, owner and beautician at Viva Beauty; and professional photographer Keith Hood.
The winner will receive a cut, colour and restyle, beauty package, eyelash extensions, teeth whitening and photo shoot.
Nicola Wood said: “A new haircut and colour can change a person’s whole outlook so there is no better time to go for a new style than when you have lost weight and shaped up.
“With an image transformation, the hair and make-up overhaul will be the icing on the cake in improving he person’s self esteem.”
The six-week Little Black Dress Club course, which comprises mindset, nutrition and fitness training, is designed for busy mums and career women.
It has been franchised to 20 locations, from Lanarkshire in Scotland to Portsmouth on the south coast.
Earlier this year, Katie was picked from scores of hopefuls from across the country to win the coveted UK Personal Trainer of the Year honour at a ceremony at the Winter Gardens, in Blackpool.
She plans to open more groups, as well as release a DVD.
