CURBS are today expected to be put on the number of away fans at two upcoming fixtures at the Stadium of Light.
The city’s Regulatory Committee is due to meet at the civic centre at 2.30pm.
Ticket allocations for visiting fans of Manchester City, on Boxing Day, and West Ham United, on January 12, are on the agenda.
The committee is recommended to limit the number of fans from the Premier League champions to 2,200 and the number of Hammers supporters should be restricted to 2,800.
The reason given is fans who stand, which is classed as a “major safety concern”.
A report to the meeting said: “It introduces the risk of injury to spectators and others from falls, surging and crushing.”
