LIFEGUARDS helped treat a mother and her two young sons after a car crash.
Michael Goodfellow, Cosmin Petcu and senior RNLI lifeguard Alexander Richardson were in their unit on Seaburn beach when they heard a loud bang at about 2.45pm on Tuesday.
The three dashed to nearby Whitburn Road where a car had collided with two empty parked cars.
The lifeguards helped calm down the distressed children and reassure the mother.
Alexander said: “As RNLI lifeguards, we receive a very high level of first aid training and this incident proves just how vital this training is and how useful our casualty care skills can be both on and off the beach.
“We’re pleased that we could assist at the scene and we wish the family a quick recovery.”
