Learning how to stay fit

Have your say

PEOPLE in Cleadon and East Boldon can find out how to stay healthy emotionally and physically fit.

Thursday’s community area forum meeting will receive two presentations from the NHS South of Tyne and Wear.

The first will be about work the organisation is doing to improve the emotional health and wellbeing of the population.

It focuses on promoting positive emotional health and wellbeing, and helping to reduce the risk of people developing mental health problems.

Mark Overton, Consultant in Public Health, will then talk about the NHS Health Check Risk Assessment Process.

Health checks can identify developing conditions such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes, and look at ways of preventing them later in life.

Forum chairman, Councillor Olive Punchion said: “ said: “We always have a lot of interesting and informative issues to discuss that effect the everyday lives of local people, and Thursday’s meeting is no exception.

“I’m sure everyone who comes along will find something to interest them.”

It will take place from 10am, in Westoe and Harton Miner’s Welfare, Low Lane, South Shields.
