AN Olympic exhibition has only a few days left to run.
Monkwearmouth Station Museum has a display of original posters designed by major avant garde artists for the Munich Games of 1972.
The exhibition, which ends on Tuesday, includes specially-commissioned works by contemporary artists of the day, such as David Hockney, Serge Paliokov, Oskar Kokoschka, Allen Jones and Max Bill.
They display strong, individual designs in a wide range of styles.
The 40-year-old posters have undergone careful conservation by specialists to repair damage, which at more than a metre in length.
Jo Cunningham, manager of Sunderland Museums, said: “These posters are stunning.
“We’re lucky to have them in our collection and we are so pleased to be able to display them in this Olympic year.
“The exhibition has proved to be very popular with all ages, and we’ve enjoyed the positive reaction we have received from our visitors.”
The museum is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday 2pm to 5pm.
Entry is free.
