FITNESS professionals are helping people beat the bulge with the launch of the Active Sunderland BIG events programme.
The BIG Workout aims to help families and individuals be active by making fitness fun.
The exercise and lifestyle event will take place on Saturday, April 5, at Silksworth Community Pool, Tennis and Wellness Centre.
Coun John Kelly, said: “We are all very well aware of the ongoing concerns regarding general health and wellbeing of people in Britain.
“Here in Sunderland over the last 10 years we have spent more than £60million on ensuring the best possible sports facilities are available.
“No other local authority outside of London has invested as much.
“As well as facilities, we also look to develop programmes and make sports and exercise not only accessible, but fun.”
Fitness instructor Alison Snaith, said: “The idea is to get people doing exercise in the long-term, and promote a healthy lifestyle.
“We aren’t just here on the day, and if anyone wants to continue with fitness afterwards, they can find us.”
