Punters have been left anything but blue about changes made to a landmark pub.
The Blue Bell, in Fulwell, has undergone a £120,000 refit, and created five new jobs.
General manager Thomas Potts said: “Our opening weekend was a huge success. The refurbishment has had an amazing response from customers and the atmosphere has just been fantastic.
“Customers are have been commenting on everything very positively, from the outside area to the new colour scheme, but I think they are particularly impressed with how we’ve maintained the history and heritage of the pub, whilst incorporating fresh décor. The team and I are overjoyed.”
He added: “We are one of the oldest pubs in Fulwell and there is a lot of history here, so it’s great to be able to have a refurbishment that really freshens and updates our look, but still reflects the roots of such an important, community pub.”
As well as regional ales, new additions include craft beers such as BrewDog’s Punk IPA, Hogstar Craft Lager and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
