THE inquest into the death of a prison inmate a week after he began a sentence for a drug offence is to open today.

Kevin Forster, of Rydal Mount, Castletown, died in HMP Durham on Sunday, September 14. His inquest is expected to be opened an adjourned at the coroner’s court at Crook Civic Centre this morning.

The 32-year-old was sentenced to eight weeks in jail at Durham Crown Court for taking a prohibited article into prison.

The court heard he had been trying to take drugs to Boden Hughes, 26, of Fulwell Road, who is now serving an 11-year term for setting fire to a DFDS ferry as it sailed on the North Sea.
