AN inquest into the death of teenager Jordan Roberts who died after getting into difficulty in the River Wear will take place in the new year.
The 17-year-old, from Downhill, Sunderland, was found dead near Finchale Abbey on September 9.
A case review into his death at Crook Coroner’s Court was told the inquest will take place in the new year after the coroner was served with documents needed during the investigation.
A major search operation took place after Jordan disappeared beneath the surface of the River Wear while swimming with two brothers and a family friend on September 8.
Jordan and one of his teenage brothers were in the water when they got into difficulty at around 5.30pm, his brother was also dragged under the water before being rescued and given CPR at the riverside.
