YOUNG people have been taking advantage of an ID scheme.
Durham County Council held a special session in Chester-le-Street where youngsters could sign up for a proof of age card.
As part of the ID4U scheme, young people signed up for the cards to prove their age when they wish to buy certain goods and services.
The cards also provide retailers with a reliable means of ensuring customers are old enough to make a purchase.
Durham County Council developed the cards, which are aimed primarily at people aged between 14 and 25, in partnership with Durham police.
Anyone wishing to sign up for a card must provide a valid passport, driving licence or Pass accredited card. Alternatively they will need a verifier to complete part of the application form. They must be over 25 and know the applicant personally.
