FREE from her celebrity jungle prison, comedy star Crissy Rock has been meeting up with her number one fan.
Crissy, 53, of Peterlee, recently made national headlines as one of the stars of this year’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
The Benidorm star was performing her first homecoming cabaret show at Rainton Meadows in Houghton when she ran into devoted fan, Linda Bailey, from Easington.
Excited Linda said: It was fantastic to meet Crissy, and it was a lovely surprise to be invited backstage to chat with her and have my photograph taken with her – it really made my night and was a wonderful Christmas surprise for me.
“I’ve been a fan of Crissy’s for a long time.
“I love her in Benidorm.
“We laughed when she was talking about taking her teeth out in front of the camera while she was in the jungle.
“She was fantastic on stage, very funny, near the knuckle but with loads of warmth.
“It was great to hear a woman’s side of living life with a man, she has some hilarious stories to tell in her act.”
The evening was hosted by Paul “Goffy” Gough who said: “It was a most memorable welcome back for Crissy – the place was packed and rocking with laughter during her appearance.”
The TV star, who is starring in the Billingham Forum Panto, said: “It was really nice to meet Linda.
“She told me that she had followed my career, read my book, and supported me during my time in the jungle.
“It’s great to have that kind of support and I told Linda that I really do appreciate it.”
Crissy has played a wide range of roles during her career, but is most notable for her role as Maggie Conlan in the 1994 film Ladybird, Ladybird and as Janey York in Benidorm whom she played from 2007 until this year.
Her performance in Ladybird, Ladybird won the Silver Bear for Best Actress award at the 44th Berlin International Film Festival.
Crissy also used to perform a daily stand-up comedy show in the UK cabaret club in Benidorm which is situated below the Hotel Presidente until earlier this year.
