THE numbers have come up for two bingo lovers who will make their TV debut in a Tombola advert.

Joanne Drysdale, 33, from Washington, and Christopher McGill, 28, from Fence Houses, appear in the new ad.

The pair applied to be stars of the small screen through Sunderland-based online bingo firm Tombola’s website.

After an audition in Leeds, they were cast in the advert which will be on screens across the country for the next 12 months.

The promotions were shot earlier this summer over three days in Brighton.

Single mother-of-one Joanne said: “My 13-year-old boy is probably more excited than I am.

“He told me he’s really proud. I’ve never really done anything like this, but am always game for a laugh.”

The group was filmed in a number of scenarios including cake decorating, karaoke, dancing, beach games and a tour of the town on an open-top bus.

Joanne, a contracts support manager, added: “I was surprised to have even been invited for the casting, so to get through and be just a tiny part of the ads is a big thrill.

“The shoot itself was an incredible experience and I’m so glad I did it.”

Christopher, who works at EDF Energy in Doxford Park, said: “It’s all a bit surreal to think my face will be appearing on TV screens up and down the country.

“It’s so exciting to have been a part of it. The filming was amazing and it was so much fun to do.

“I’m not actually sure I’ll be able to watch the TV ads though, but my friends and family have all insisted we gather round the TV together.

Head of marketing for Tombola Dawn-Elizabeth Howe said: “It’s vital for us to give something back to those who are most important and that’s all the players from our site.

“Like everyone else, Joanne threw herself fully into the auditions and the three days of shooting itself.

“I think they really enjoyed themselves and many made some firm friends.

“We’re very confident that party atmosphere generated on set transfers into the adverts. Joanne was an absolute star.”
